Dum Ali - Mast Mast Dum Mast Qalandar Mast Lyrics – Divya Kumar, Amit Mishra | Ardh

Dum Ali - Mast Mast Dum Mast Qalandar Mast Song Description

This song is "Dum Ali" (दम अली), which is a beautiful Sufi/Qawwali track from the film Ardh. This film features Rajpal Yadav and Rubina Dilaik in lead roles, and this song has been released under the Zee Music Company music label. This song has been voiced by Divya Kumar and Amit Mishra, while the music has been composed by Palash Muchhal, and the lyrics are written by Palash Muchhal along with the great Sufi saint Bulleh Shah. The special thing about this song is that it presents the traditional spirit of Kalandar devotion with a modern music arrangement, giving listeners a unique spiritual experience.

Talking about the lyrics, at the very beginning lines like "Ek vird hai dam-dam Ali-Ali" (One chant is Ali, Ali) and "Sakhi Lal Kalandar Ali-Ali" (O beloved Lal Kalandar, Ali, Ali) appear. These lines reflect the devotion to Ali and Kalandar. The repeated use of words like "Jhulelal Kalandar" and "Dam Mast Kalandar" makes this song feel like a mantra. The powerful chanting of "Mast, mast, dam mast Kalandar mast" (Intoxicated, intoxicated, the intoxicated Kalandar is in ecstasy) shows a blended state of devotion and ecstasy. This song is actually inspired by the famous Sufi kalam "Dama Dam Mast Kalandar" , which was written by Bulleh Shah, and in this version, the same traditional spirit has been presented anew.

In the further lyrics, a deep spiritual question is raised: "Kab se khuda ko dhoondh raha hoon, khud se sawal poochh raha hoon" (I have been searching for God for so long, I am asking myself the question) — this line reflects the search for truth within oneself. Meanwhile, "Saari duniya ek taraf hai, meri kismat ek taraf" (The whole world is on one side, my destiny is on the other) shows that for the devotee, the remembrance of God is everything. The song also includes Punjabi-Sufi lines like "Shanan uchhiyan teriyan peeran" (Your spiritual guides are of high status) and "Hovan door haneiriyan peeran" (May the darkness be removed by the spiritual guides), which speak of the greatness of the peer and how darkness is removed by their grace. Overall, Dum Ali is a devotional and spiritual song that deepens the mood of the story in the movie Ardh, and it will be appreciated by all those who are interested in Sufi music and devotion.
